Abstract
Theȱpresentȱstudyȱwasȱcarriedȱoutȱforȱtheȱassessmentȱofȱheteroticȱperformanceȱofȱ44ȱhybridsȱandȱtheirȱ
parentsȱ includingȱ checkȱ underȱ salineȱ ecosystemȱ atȱ Vegetableȱ Researchȱ Form,ȱ NDUATȱ Kumarganjȱ
Faizabadȱ U.P.ȱ Theseȱ F1sȱ wereȱ producedȱ byȱ usingȱ Lineȱ xȱ testerȱ matingȱ design.ȱ Theȱ crosses,ȱ whichȱ
displayedȱsuperiorityȱoverȱbetterȱparentȱandȱstandardȱvarietyȱforȱtotalȱyieldȱperȱplants,ȱalsoȱexhibitedȱ
significantȱheterosisȱforȱsome/mostȱofȱtheȱmajorȱcomponentȱtraits.ȱTheȱmostȱworthyȱcommonȱcrossesȱ
selectedȱonȱtheȱbasisȱofȱ per se ȱperformance,ȱheterobeltiosisȱandȱstandardȱheterosisȱforȱdifferentȱtraitsȱ
inȱbothȱenvironmentsȱwereȱBilahi-2ȱxȱH-86ȱandȱHimlataȱxȱH-86ȱforȱtotalȱyield;ȱMMȱxȱH-88ȱandȱKS-60ȱ
xȱH-24ȱforȱnumberȱofȱfruitsȱplant -1 ȱinȱE 2 ,ȱMMȱxȱH-86ȱandȱMMȱxȱH-88ȱforȱaverageȱfruitȱweightȱinȱE 1

ofȱprimaryȱbranchesȱplant -1 ȱwasȱobservedȱasȱvolubleȱcrossȱcombination.ȱPromisingȱhybridȱidentifiedȱforȱ
theȱcharactersȱimportantȱtoȱprocessingȱandȱqualityȱpointȱofȱview,ȱwereȱMMȱxȱH-88ȱinȱbothȱenvironmentsȱ
forȱtotalȱsolubleȱsolids;ȱECȱ2291-2ȱxȱH-88ȱinȱbothȱenvironmentsȱforȱAscorbicȱacidȱcontentȱandȱECȱ7343ȱxȱ
H-24ȱinȱE 1 ȱandȱBilahi-2ȱxȱH-88ȱinȱE 2 ȱforȱpericarpȱthickness.ȱHowever,ȱnoneȱofȱtheȱcrossesȱwereȱcommonȱ
forȱtitrableȱacidityȱinȱbothȱtheȱenvironmentsȱinȱrelationȱtoȱaboveȱthreeȱparametersȱi.e.ȱ per se ȱperformance,ȱ
standardȱheterosisȱandȱheterobeltiosis.
