Title: Voice towards Education: A Study of the Educational Status of the Sabar Community
Abstract :
Sabar is a most backward tribal community of Bengal. Educationally they are deprived and marginalized. Through this study,
it is reflected that their educational status is very low, and day to day they deviate from education. In Sabar society education is
just a luxurious phenomenon, they think that education is not for them. So, in this perspective, they don’t want to get education.
They found a huge discrepancy between education and real-life situations. According to the Sabar community schooling became
a burden it failed to sustain them. Hence this paper knows the current educational status of the Sabar community in the Purulia
district and the researchers also find some important causes of the educational gap among the Sabar community and simultaneously
give insight into possible methods of educating among the Sabar community. This study was conducted on 10 Sabar villages and
data was collected through randomly selected survey methods about ten (10) Sabar villages (Para) like Akarbad, Maldhi, Kudha,
Kashidhi, Bamni, Panchara, Shalbani, Kendapara, Shirkabad, and Dhumurdhi. 100 Sabar people (above 18 years old) are included
in this study as a sample. The study significantly shows the educational status of the Sabar community in Purulia district.
Title: An Impact Study on the Oral Proficiency of Students from Tamil Medium Schools Tutored in Digital Language Laboratory
Abstract :
This research study examines the oral expressions of students from Tamil medium schools before and after a targeted educational
intervention using the Digital Language Laboratory (DLL). The focus was on enhancing key areas of oral skills such as pronunciation
and accent, fluency, vocabulary, syntax and grammar, and the confidence level of students. This study involved 64 students (45
girls and 19 boys) from Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute (ADAC&RI), and Horticultural College
and Research Institute for Women (HC&RI W), in Tiruchirappalli, India. After a diagnostic test, the selected students received
systematic training in DLL, established under the Indian Council for Agricultural Research – National Agricultural Higher
Education Plan – Institutional Development Plan (ICAR – NAHEP- IDP) at ADAC&RI in Tiruchirappalli. The oral performance of
the students was categorised into four levels: Needs Improvement, Fair, Good, and Excellent. The calculated t-value of oral skills
is very large, indicating a substantial difference between the pre-evaluation and post-evaluation scores. The p-value is extremely
small (<0.001), far less than the typical significance level of 0.05. This indicates that the observed difference in means is highly
statistically significant.
Title: Menopause and Gendered Habitus in Kerala: A Socio-cultural Analysis
Abstract :
Menopause, a natural biological phenomenon, is often accompanied by various physiological and psychosocial transformations
that can significantly influence an individual’s habitus, encompassing lifestyle, habits, and overall well-being. This article examines
how menopause, a biological phenomenon with cultural significance, is impacting the habitus of women in a socio-cultural
setting. The social spaces are “gendered,” as there are cultural constraints and restrictions in society. Drawing on a mixed-methods
approach, this study incorporates both quantitative surveys and qualitative methods to capture a comprehensive understanding of
the experiences of menopausal women in Kerala.
Title: The Empathetic Eve: A Neurophilosophical Origin Story of Compassion
Abstract :
Compassion is an evolutionary, moral force that is a necessary output of vertebrate evolution and that vertebrates, including
humans, exhibit it as a result of suffering for oneself and others. It predates the Anthropocene, and is engrained in the emergent
properties of the vertebrate brain, particularly through the evolution of the oxytocin pathway in the mesolimbic system. I suggest it
can be cultivated and enhanced but is entrenched in our genetics and epigenetics as a response to help relieve suffering from oneself
and others. Here, I present an origin story for the role of compassion across all species.
Title: Digital Divide & Agricultural Sector in Indian Context— An Overview
Abstract :
Agriculture Informatics is dedicated in development in Agricultural sector using technology. Like industrial revolution digital
technologies are changing the systems and building an advanced, smarter as well as environmental friendly agricultural system. In
regard to, technological, and tools related concern it is noted that there are huge disparities in Agricultural technological services due
to Digital Divide. Effective farm management possible with Agriculture 4.0 systems. Various digitalization, automation systems like
artificial intelligence, robotics, big data and analytics, Internet of Things, cloud computing and virtualization, augmented reality,
HCI, usability engineering and so on are being used in many pre-production and post production of agricultural systems. Agriculture
become an industry now, and transforming also day by day rapidly. This transformation in agriculture system is highly depends
on state-of-art technology. Technological systems availability, support and systems are not same in all the countries and regions
globally or nationally. This paper is a theoretical and conceptual work dedicated in finding about the Digital Divide with reference
to its basics and features, to gather the gap of the digital systems in agricultural sectors in Indian context.
Title: Enhancing Livelihood Security via Mushroom Production: A Case Study of Technological Support and Farmers’ Ingenuity
Abstract :
Mushrooms, a diverse and vital organism, offer an economical and eco-friendly solution for utilizing agricultural and forest
wastes, presenting substantial potential for sustainable farming globally. This study employed a case study approach to evaluate
technological interventions in mushroom cultivation among 40 mushroom growers in Puri district over three years. Practices
compared included using crumpled straw soaked with 2% calcium carbonate for paddy straw mushrooms, humidity management
with fogger, and cultivating blue oyster mushrooms. Results indicated significant improvements in yield, biological efficiency, and
economic returns, demonstrating the effectiveness of these interventions. Focusing on Mr. Laxman Bastia, an innovative farmer
from Puri district, the study also highlighted his adoption of advanced mushroom cultivation techniques with support from KVK
Puri. By implementing these interventions in mushroom cultivation, Mr. Bastia significantly increased yields, reduced costs, and
enhanced profitability. His innovations, including a spawn bottle-carrying trolley, fuel-saving chulla, and wheat cleaner, further
improved efficiency and reduced labor dependency. These efforts earned him widespread recognition, including the “Progressive
Mushroom Grower Award” by ICAR. Mr. Bastia’s success underscored the potential of mushroom cultivation to boost productivity,
profitability, and nutritional security, offering a viable livelihood option for farm families. His enterprise achieved an impressive
annual turnover of ` 63,82,000/-, creating year-round employment for five individuals and part-time opportunities for Women
Self-Help Group members. The study highlighted the importance of training, technological support, and innovative practices in
advancing mushroom entrepreneurship, particularly among farm-women and rural youths. Future strategies aim to strengthen
market connections and promote value-added mushroom products, ensuring continued growth and sustainability in the mushroom
industry.
