Vegetables play an important role in improving livelihood to farming community and achieving nutritional security to the burgeoning population of India. In India, vegetables alone contribute about 60.32 % of total horticultural production and approximate 20 % of total agricultural GDP. The changing scenario of horticultural science especially vegetable science created a huge gap. Vegetable Science achieved the tremendous progress in R&D. Today in India vegetable production is viewed as a high growth industry.That’s why nowadays this subject is gaining more popularity among the students for their post-graduate’s degrees. It has given an impetus to author like ourself to present the book “Vegetable Science: for competitive exams” for the students who preparing for the ICAR JRF, SRF, IARI PhD or other SAU’s PhD entrance exam, ARS, ASRB NET and several competitive exams oriented to vegetable science. Keeping all these points in mind an attempt has been made to produce a complete book on various vegetable crops.
