The Government of India and the state authorities have been implementing many integrated programs in the last few decades for the betterment and development of women in India in order to establish equilibrium with regard to gender disparities. In spite of all these efforts, still women are often discriminated with respect to access to education, medical facilities, employment, political participation etc. The intensity of gender disparities has been observed to be widely varied across various states in India. Overtime changing scenario of gender disparities across various states of India is sought to be explored and therefore, the present study entitled “Socio-Economic Gender Disparities in India-An Inter-State Analysis” has been planned to investigate the status of women against men with regard to health, education, employment, political representation etc. This book is a pioneer work in the direction of understating various indicators of gender disparity in health, employment, financial inclusion, corporate leadership roles and political empowerment in India along with its various states using Gender Inequality Index. This book will be helpful to the students, teachers, researchers, government institutions, NGOs, various research institutions for better understanding about the extent of gender discrimination across various states of Indian economy.
