This book has been written as a basic book covering various aspects of human rights. It has been divided into nine chapters. The first chapter is Introductory dealing with the concept of human right, women human right, importance and relevance of study, review of existing literature, various objectives of the study, research problem, scope and the methodology adopted in this book. Second chapter gives a historical perspective and  compiles the developments till modern period. Next chapter describes the legal status of women under the Indian constitution with some reference to international developments. It includes the legal acts and judicial remedies and legislative acts which were enacted from time to time. It also makes a comprehensive study of legal and procedural developments in favour or against women. The study further examines the constraints on women human rights in the legal, political, socio-economic and cultural-ideological context. Further, the present age is the age of globalization. Therefore, an attempt has been made to evaluate as to what extent liberalization and globalization have affected Indian women in the positive and negative sense. The last chapter the conclusion of the study, in this chapter, an agenda for action in form of suggestions has been incorporated which would be useful to those who are interested in safeguarding human rights of women.
